Potty Training-Day 1

We started potty training at 8 a.m. Wednesday morning. We started by going to McDonald's in our pjs and picking up a "Big Boy" breakfast (Jasper chose a breakfast burrito and a cinnamon roll.) We came back and took off Jasper's diaper and threw it away and then had him throw away all remaining diapers. We put on big boy undies (he chose Thomas the Train) and had a big boy picnic breakfast on a vinyl tablecloth in front of the TV. Then I started watching Jasper closely all day to see when he was going pee-pee. The first two times he didn't say anything, but after that everytime he would tell me either after he was finished or as he was going. A few times we made it to the potty for some of it...I had a towel or a tablecloth or a waterproof mattress pad under him at all times.

Naptime went well. I laid down with him in our bed (he was one a waterproof mattress pad.) He was asleep for over two hours and woke up dry. As soon as we got up he peed in the potty! We had church last night, so he wore undies, plastic underpants and windbreaker pants. He stayed dry all the way to church, sat on the potty when we got there and then had an accident as he was washing his hands. I ended up putting a diaper on him for the time he was in the nursery so the nursery workers didn't have to deal with it. We decided to have him sleep in a diaper since I know that he's going so often during the day.

Overall I was pleased with day one. Telling me as he was going, a dry nap and car ride and one complete successful pee-pee in the potty. He got a balloon for that one. He got an M&M for each time he told me he was going and got a prize for telling me three times.
