Nano ended up all the way in Mishawaka at the St. Joseph County Humane Society. Apparently after he got loose, he followed some people who were walking on our road. Someone called the Humane Society and they came and picked him up.
We called the Walkerton Police on Sunday afternoon to report Nano missing (how funny is that?) and they called us right back to say that the Humane Society had called them on Saturday saying they'd picked up a dog of that description.
Josh went to pick him up on Monday. It cost $125 to get him back! They charged a fee for pick up, boarding, immunizations (what??), and to put a identification chip under his skin (we had no choice in this.) If he would happen to get loose again, and if he ended up there again - it would cost us MORE to get him back. I guess they don't like habitual dog losers!
We're going to keep Nano in his pen until we get a more substantial chain to tie him on.
